Experience authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Umbria.
Cooking in Orvieto, Italy
Perched atop cliff faces, overlooking the Italian countryside of Umbria, the ancient town of Orvieto has become Nikki’s second home. Her love affair with the region’s culinary delights continues here, and much of Nikki’s inspiration lies in the variety of fresh seasonal Mediterranean produce available – and it’s simple use in Italian cooking.
Nikki is fortunate to have been able to spend the last few years sharing space in a busy family kitchen, gaining wonderful exposure to techniques and secrets handed down through generations of Italian chefs.
Italian Cooking Course
Orvieto is a delight of a medieval town, drenched in sumptuous restaurants and steeped in gastronomical heritage. Nikki will show you around, sharing her passion for Italian food and her ‘secrets’ of the area, offering her unique insight into the produce of this often overlooked part of the country.
Days will be spent exploring the local area and learning how to work with what food is available. Evenings will be spent enjoying the diversity of some of the best destinations in the town, all the while gaining an appreciation of how entertaining combines with food in this part of Italy.
The course is hosted on the picturesque Neri Wine Estate and includes learning to make canapés, bread and pasta. You’ll also learn to master the perfect risotto and antipasti dishes.
Umbrian Wine Experience
We also offer a one-day wine experience with an accomplished wine educator, and sommelier who will introduce you to the local Umbrian wines and Nikki will prepare antipasti to complement the tasting. Price on application.
